Most likely your monitor doesn't support that resolution and isn't configured properly, i.e. you shouldn't be able to switch to that resolution at all.

Yes, always remember that your monitor isn't infinite; a common spec listed on monitors is their maximum supported resolution.<br><br>Original VGA's didn't go above 640x480.<br>Midrange S-VGA's didn't usually get above 800x600 or 1024x768.  (Hint:  Your monitor has S-VGA in the title, so it's possibly locked within one of the two aforementioed rates)<br><br>Newest ones can get up to 1600x1200 or something even more rediculuous, often to the point that the video card runs like a slug anyway <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

Heh, all games only think my monitor can go up to 1280x1024. My desktop resolution is 1600x1200 <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P --><br><br>I can run Jdoom and Quake 2 on 1600x1200, since they always have those modes available (ie, they don't check for support, they force the resolution)

It's also possible games limit maximal resolution for other reasons.
